Junior Developer

A new post for a Junior Developer has arisen at a leading VOIP network service provider based in Leeds, UK. The Post has been created because the Company is expanding its Development team, due to customer demand. This presents an excellent opportunity for someone with the relevant experience and the attributes identified below. You would be developing products and features for business owners and their engineers across 5 continents.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills and someone able to work independently as well as part of a team. Your technical and development skills should be evident, either through past experience or suitable qualifications. You will be a fast learner and adapt to the changing technologies easily.

Job Description
· Maintenance and support of current applications
· Analyse, enhance, and customise current applications
· Support quality assurance testing and production installations
· Create analysis, design, and test documents
· Provide technical support to internal consultants working on client projects
· Interface with clients to gather and document business and system requirements
· Provide customer support as and when required
· Development and maintenance of in house applications to specifications agreed with the Project Manager
· Document all software faults and their resolution
· Provide advice and technical assistance to the IT Operations Team in areas of expertise
· Build new modules on Cuyahoga content management platform.
Person Specification
· An effective time-manager able to work on multiple projects when required
· An innovative developer capable of thinking ‘out-of-the-box’ to resolve problems
· Well versed in a wide variety of coding languages and interested in the full development cycle
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· Disciplined, self motivated work ethic
· Work within tight deadlines
· Strong technology background and interest
· Well organized, self-motivated, reliable, independent worker needing limited managerial oversight
· Must be a team player and understand the need to work well with others.
Technical Skills
Mandatory
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
· ASP.NET 2.0 or above using C#
· Solid application development skills utilizing C#, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Document object model.
· Knowledge of W3C web standards
· Experience with SOAP based web services as well as RESTful services.
· Knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL preferred)
· Practical knowledge of Visual Studio 2008 development environment
· 3 months plus of practical experience implementing AJAX
· Understanding of IIS configuration and web server performance is also a plus
Desirable
· Understanding of Agile development processes
· Strong software development skills for web-based and n-tier applications. Experienced in the analysis and design of middle-tier components
· Unit Testing (NUnit)
· Knowledge of Share Point 2007, Cuyahoga, UML, XML and web services is advantageous
· PHP, Perl/Mason knowledge
· Experience with Apache web server management
· Experience in interfacing with corporate IT systems
· Good analysis and people skills
· Knowledge and use of graphics packages (such as Gimp, Paint.NET, Photoshop, etc)
· Windows based software development
